Two Jobs, One Skill: Translation

I didn't start in AI. I started teaching people how to speak with confidence, first in English communication coaching, preparing people for job interviews, helping them sound like themselves on a call that mattered. It turns out that work and AI adoption have more in common than most people expect.

From Freezing Up to Speaking Naturally

Both jobs are about translation. In coaching, I was translating between what someone genuinely knew and what they were actually able to say out loud under pressure. In AI adoption, I'm translating between what a tool can technically do and what a team actually needs it to do inside their real, messy workday. In both cases, the gap isn't a lack of intelligence or a lack of good tools. It's a lack of a clear, practiced bridge between the two.

What pulled me toward AI was watching smart people drown in scattered tools and half-finished processes. Someone using three different apps to do one job. A team that bought a subscription six months ago and never opened it again. Ideas that were good but never turned into a system anyone could repeat. I started treating that the same way I treated a client freezing up before an interview: find where the block actually is, build a small, concrete step past it, then practice it until it's automatic. That's the same activity-vs-value gap I write about here.
