Overview
A pronunciation and speech practice platform designed for a learner with hearing loss, built to teach through sight first and backed by human voice. Every line is split into syllables, each with phonetic spelling, a mouth cue and a bridge to a sound the learner already knows. Over 500 recordings of a human voice can be played slowly or at natural speed.
Scope
I designed and built the whole product: the learning method on screen, the interface with large type, the engine that splits text into syllables and phonetic notation, and the recording workflow. The learner records their own voice, plays it back slowly and compares it with the model. Sound can be mixed into both ears at once, so nothing is lost on the weaker side.
